HTC Desire 816 vs Oppo R1 X comparison

Oppo R1 X features

Design and Display:

The HTC Desire 816  features a 5.5-inch display with a 720 x 1280-pixel resolution with a pixel density of 267 ppi. While the other hand rival, The Oppo R1 X mini features a 5-inch Super LTPS display with same 720 x 1280-pixel resolution with the pixel density of 294 ppi. That means that  the Oppo R1 X lead in terms of display size with the better pixel density and the image resolution.

The Oppo R1 X gives you slightly more screen space, not only because it’s fractionally larger, but because the R1 X has on-screen controls.

Processor:

The Desire 816 features a 1.6GHz Quad core Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 MSM8928 with ARM Cortex-A7 chips inside and a Adreno 305 GPU with a 1535 MB of RAM. While the Oppo R1 X features a 1.7GHz 64 bit octa-core Snapdragon 615  processor which is one of the fastest processors out there for mobile devices  fitted inside intending for an affordable price tag and with respectable performance with the  Adreno 405 GPU  as well as 2 GB of RAM. Which means that the HTC Desire 816 mini has less RAM than its rival Oppo and offers less space than the other one. When we work on the phones then we found that the Oppo takes a lead in terms of processor speed. So the Oppo R1 X has an advantage over HTC Desire 816.

Storage:

The HTC Desire 816 features 8 GB of on-board ROM. And the phone is  supported with a external SD card Slot with 128GB of expendability. A 12 GB and 60 GB of free Google Drive space is also given along with the ROM options. While the Oppo R1 X  features 16 GB on-board storage and with an external storage of 128 GB via external SD card slot. A 50GB of free cloud storage through Dropbox for 2 years is also provided. This means that Oppo R1 X offers more storage capacity than the desire 816.

Camera:

The HTC Desire 816 features the same UltraPixel sensor (f/2.0 aperture) found in the original desire phones, although it’s a better all-round performer than before. It also has a Duo Camera for depth perception which means that there’s a range of fancy features on offer and 5-megapixel (f/2.0 aperture) front-facing camera which is good for selfies. But the front camera is not an HD version.

On the second half, the Oppo R1 X mini features a 8-megapixel sensor with fast 0.8 second capture speed. The Oppo R1 X mini camera is also known for the best photography with its revolving camera  and wide viewing angle, so the Oppo R1 X takes the lead in terms of camera. The Oppo R1 X mini smartphone can also capture Ultra HD video, something the Desire 816 is incapable of and there are a range of smart functions, including “selective focus” which produces similar to desire 816 without the additional lens. This new added features lets you choose over Oppo.

Operating System:

The HTC Desire 816Â features Android 4.4 KitKat and Sense 5.5. The Oppo R1 X features Android 4.4 KitKat and a new version of TouchWiz. Both have same operating systems and both the gadgets has a feature of upgrading the android operating system to Android 5.0 lollipop.

Battery:

The HTC Desire 816 features a 2600 mAh battery that is supposedly 40 per cent more efficient than the first HTC Desire phone, which could last up to two days with 2G services. However Desire 816 has added aggressive power saver options to make sure your device lasts the distance and it’s very impressive.

The Oppo R1 X features a 2420 mAh battery that will get you through the day. It also offers power saving features to match those of Note series phones. Both devices are a step above the previous generation, giving much better endurance. But in  battery terms the HTC takes the lead as it has additional features than R1 X.

Conclusion whether which one is the best:

HTC desire 816 hands on

The Desire 816 features a machined aluminium body that wraps around the sides making for a 90 per cent metal finish. There will be many colors available: Black, Gray, Pink, Yellow, Green, Blue, Red, White. It’s a triumph of design, it looks stunning and feels sensational to hold.

The Oppo R1 X is made out of metal, though it supports a glass panel on the back, a sapphire glass panel as the matter a fact. This panel is really nice to look at, and the coloring on it is achieved through UV embossing of the layer below the glass itself, so that the light reflects differently in each area, which creates a really nice looking back panel.Oppo Smartphone is made in such a way as to create a sense of sapphire, shimmering in different shades of the rays of light. The big positives are that it is dust proof and resistant in liquid down to a metre in depth, and it’ll be available in colors of-Sapphire Blue and Ice White.

The Desire 816Â feels like the slicker device in daily use. The user interface is faster and although it has less options and features, the interface feels more sophisticated and mature. It offers class-leading sound quality, a great display, but the real winner is the design. In the battle of these two giants, Oppo R1 X takes it, but only just.

The Oppo R1 X mini offers a wider range of features and comes with great connectivity, a stunning display, plenty of power and a camera that performs well. However it feels like it could be faster in daily use and the unique features of the heart rate sensor and fingerprint scanner may well get turned off and ignored.

Price:

As per price, the HTC Desire 816 is available at Rs 24,990 INR and the Oppo R1 X available in India at a price tag of 24,000 INR.
